BASIC FACTS

 

  • The University of Economics in Bratislava (UEB), established in 1940 as the Slovak Higher School of Commerce, is leading economic school in Slovakia and one of the most important educational and scientific-research institutions in the Slovak Republic.
  • The University provides higher education in economics and business in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs for full-time and part-time students.
  • At present, more than 14,000 students study at the University. As of 2006, it had prepared more than 75,000 graduates.
  • Science and research form an integral part of the university’s activities. Every year competitions for the best student research projects on the faculty, university, and international levels are organized. The University of Economics in Bratislava is member of EDAMBA (The European Doctoral Programs Association in Management and Business Administration).
  • The university cooperates with more than 150 universities from abroad through bilateral ERASMUS agreements, as well as within a framework of other agreements. The University has been involved in many international projects within European Union programs such as TEMPUS, Leonardo da Vinci, Erasmus, the European Social Fund and others.
  • UEB is a member of various international institutions such as: the EUA – European University Association, the EAIE – European Association for International Education, IUA – International University Association, Magna Charta Universitatum and others.

THE FACULTY OF BUSINESS ECONOMICS IN KOŠICE

(FBE Košice)

 

 

 

 

 

Košice, city of 250 000 inhabitants, second biggest city in Slovakia, economic and cultural centre of Eastern Slovakia.

 

Historically, Košice was the most important city of the Superior Hungary. After 1918 the city became a part of former Czechoslovakia.

 

Actually, the city is a seat of three universities: 

-       Technical University

-       P. J. Šafárik University

-       University of Veterinary Medicine

 

Fourth University in Košice is the UEB represented by the FBE Košice.

 

Košice, St. Elisabeth Cathedral, the most eastern gothic building in Europe.

 

 

BASIC FACTS

 

 

Faculty of Business Economics of UEB in Košice was established in 1992. Its predecessor was a Branch of the Higher School of Economics in Bratislava with residence in Košice, founded in 1969. The faculty is oriented at education of business economists and managers. Graduates of the faculty can hold managerial posts at all levels of management in various types of businesses and organizations in public as well as in private sector and they also assert themselves in state administration and local government offices. FBE cooperates with all higher economic schools in Slovakia and Czech Republic, as well as with partners in Austria, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine and others. In 2007 faculty joined ERENET with the aim to reinforce its international cooperation with partners engaged in the field of small and medium business development. Faculty has nearly 1500 students and about 50 teachers and researchers.

In 2007 the following research projects are realized at the FBE in Košice:

 

·          Financial management of the enterprise in the European Union environment

·          Financing of the long-term assets of the enterprise and the macroeconomic structural changes
